Mackinnon: Ideal Candidate For The Hill And Soon Winner

Five year old gelding for Doug O’Neill made just his 2nd start since last July on Sunday in a 2nd allowance dash at ¾ on the lawn for older runners. Off at 9/1 in a field of 9, he broke a step slow under Fresu and was last early, but rushed up on the rail and was third by the far turn. Fresu kept him on the fence down the lane and though he couldn’t go with the favorite late, he put in a good run and lost by a length and a half. He might have found his hole card today as a late running sprinter and looks like an ideal candidate for the hill. This was his 1st start ever with Lasix and his next race will be his 3rd off a long layoff. Now if O’Neill can just spot him properly, he’s a soon winner.
