Just Nails: Look for O’Neill to turn her back now, either down the hill or out the chute

Five year old mare for Doug O’Neill tried two turns for the 1st time in her career on Saturday in a 1st allowance condition at a mile on the lawn for older runners. Off at 7/1 in a full field of 12 runners, she was hustled to the lead from the 12 hole under Maldonado and made the lead into the clubhouse turn with a quick opening quarter in 22.76. She had three down the back side on the field, still had the lead at the 1/8 pole, but gave it up late to finish 4th beaten five at the wire. This daughter of Twirling Candy wants to sprint and that is all. They had to find out if she could handle two turns and they did. Look for O’Neill to turn her back now, either down the hill or out of the chute. She is good enough to knock out this condition and as her name applies, she is “just nails”.
