Two year old colt for Mark Glatt made his debut on opening day in the second race for maiden special weights at ¾ on the main track. Off at 8/1 in a field of 7 under Flavien Prat, he broke OK but then was pretty much void of speed early and fell five lengths off the pace by the half mile pole. Prat swung him to the outside at the ¼ pole, got caught five wide at the top of the lane, then found his stride and finished with a rush down the lane to miss by a half to the odds on Baffert favorite. It was a big try and Prat gave him a perfect ride keeping him out of trouble the entire trip. The time was a strong 1:09.85, which is excellent for a debut juvenile and he was four in front of the third place finisher. He’s a soon winner, like next time for Glatt, who has the best win % with 2nd time starters on this circuit.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Father Ted was cabable of. We expected that if Father Ted gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Father Ted performance figures. Use the performance figures earned in Father Ted last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Father Ted next start. If Father Ted appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Father Ted will dominate the race.
