Crosby Beach: Watch For Winning Spot On Turf at Santa Anita

Four year old gelding for Mark Glatt, who he had just claimed for $50K four weeks ago, was in for the second allowance condition in Sunday’s 3rd at a mile on the infield turf course. Off at 12/1 in a field of 9, he broke well and sat third down the back side, some 5 lengths off the runaway leader. He moved into contention at the top of the lane when the leader faltered, ran gamely the entire length of the stretch and ended up third, though only beaten one length at the wire. It was a good race for the son of Gormley and he has good tactical speed that will serve him well up at Anita. Glatt does a good job with most of his claims, and though he was in for the $80,000 optional tag today, he is still eligible for this condition. Look for Glatt to find a winning spot for him in the near future and both of his turf wins are at Santa Anita, where his speed will hold on better than Del Mar.
